Time is moving in the hallway
Time is climbing up the stairs
Time is peeking through a keyhole
There's no one there
There's just an empty chair
Time all dressed to go out dancing
It starts to rain and so he hails a taxi
Looks in the mirror but there's no face to see there
And the moon is on the rise
I see it in your eyes

Inside his taxi Time moves through the city
He finds a place to have a rum and coke
He smiles a lot but he's not one for pity
He makes old men live backwards for a joke
Across the room a girl dressed all in feathers
They meet and soon they're dancing close together
She's being clever says she could dance forever
And through the windowpane
The moon is on the wane

No time left to lose and none for saving
To go on a cruise or stay home waving
No time left for romance
Since Time has gone to dance
But he'll get home when he can
Dancing shoes in hand

Time is moving in the hallway
Time is moving in the hallway
